Celeste: The best game I played so far

Celeste is a game, that catched my awareness pretty early on the PICO-8, that came bundled with my Pocket Chip. I absolutely loved that game so much. Some time did pass and then the developers of that game announced a remake, which is for me Celeste 2. The original Celeste can be also played in the menu after unlocking it in a level secret. But what makes Celeste so special? It really catched my attention after a closer look at the story. I can relate to everything in that story, because this is basically my life except, that I never climbed a mountain. Like Madeline, the main character of the game, I also suffer from depression and panic attacks. The sounds, music and graphics are extremely gorgeous. That game gave me goosebumps, I laughed alot and I almost cried at some point.

It's the most emotional game I've ever played told in a very simple art style plus the game runs at full speed on my, compared to newer computers, a little bit "older" computer.

You can jump, dash and fall trough the levels. Good positioned game elements are sometimes creating very hard puzzles to solve. I always seen myself fail at some levels and most of them were unbeatable, so I turned on the "helper mode" and dashed my way throughout the levels. You wouldn't miss anything, because the core of the game is the story. After playing through all the levels I reached the mountain core. First I needed to collect all red hearts I had to find on all B-side levels to unlock the B-side of the mountain core and then trying to collect all blue hearts in all A-side levels to unlock all C-Sides and the golden strawberries in all stages.

Almost there at the top of the mountain. You might think you played the game through, but there are even more levels to unlock.

I did all this in 9 hours and it's very fun to play. The game seems endless at some point, because you can't get enough unlocking everything. Some puzzles for the blue hearts were so hard, that I needed to look up the dash combinations for unlocking certain blue hearts.

Overall it's the best game I played so far and I can definitely recommend this game to everyone. The story is a story everyone can relate to and the full game content is just awesome. The game is available for 20€ on Steam for various platforms including Windows, Mac and Linux and also on itch.io. There are also console versions available for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Thanks for reading and let me know in the comments what you think of this game :)
