Simply astonishing black hole shadow image by the @EHtelescope@twitter.com showing not just how they compare to solar system scales, but also how much more challenging SgrA* is compared to M87's black hole. Huge progress and clearly a promise of so much more to come! VERY exciting!
I should add that the two black hole shadows are similar sizes on the sky. It’s just that the M87 one is further awa. Sgr A* is much more challenging though because its smaller physical size means it varies much more quickly. Like trying to make a sharp picture from a movie of a running child in the dark, as they said in the press conference… A tour de force of interferometry! Amazing work
