Do you want your posts to be seen by as many people as possible on here?
If so, it's important to use hashtags. Hashtag searches are the main way people find posts on the Fediverse. If a post doesn't have hashtags, people probably won't see it in search results.
Don't worry about using too many tags! As long as they are relevant, it is fine to have lots of tags. Many put a long list of them at the end of the post.
Also, if you are using tags, it's important to set the post's visibility to "Public" so that the post appears in search results.
On Mastodon you can set a post's visibility by clicking the visibility icon at the bottom of the post when you're writing it (the icon looks like a globe 🌐 , lock 🔒 or @ sign).
You can set your default post visibility by logging in through the website and going to Preferences > Other > Posting Privacy, select the default you want and click "Save Changes".

Hawaii also leads the US in the school-to-prison pipeline - #1 in rounding up children, especially Native Hawaiians. Part of the continued US attempt to destroy us indigenous people and lifeways.
Since the US banned our Hawaiian language, it nearly went extinct. Less than 100 kids spoke it in the 80's. Kids are STILL punished for speaking Hawaiian today.
The fact we've 30,000+ Hawaiians speakers now is testament to our struggle to preserve our culture from eradication.
I've created my first #addon for the Mannequin (https://ar14.itch.io/mannequin) editor today that adds bushy tails as an accessory. You can download it at https://github.com/Indexing-Your-Heart/mannequin-bushy-tail

I'm going to try doing #indexingyourheart dev stuff as a thread and see how this goes...
I think I may have some idea of what I want to try for the RPG aspect of Indexing Your Heart. Something like an escape room(s)/situations with symbolic meanings?
As in, the mannerisms and inner thoughts of one of the characters becomes manifested as mechanics in the world. It's still a rough idea, though sounds fun to prototype.

A reminder that Mastodon and the Fediverse do NOT use cryptocurrency, blockchains, NFTs, tokens, coins, mining, web3 or anything like that.
Masto and the Fedi run on traditional servers and use a sustainable network federation model somewhat similar to e-mail (that's why Fediverse addresses look similar to e-mail addresses).
Also a reminder there are no venture capital firms or other investors either. No one owns the network, each server is independent. Masto and Fedi server running costs are paid by their owners, sometimes with donations from users.
No one is getting rich from the Fediverse, it is all volunteers with some getting donations and a few getting modest grants from foundations. Please remember this when you interact with admins or developers.
(There might be some individual users who post about cryptocurrency/blockchain, but the infrastructure this place runs on doesn't use it at all.)
Tl:dr - Decentralisation does NOT mean cryptocurrency/blockchain
I like that I was able to go back to "Publish" in the official iOS and Android apps. It may be less whimsical, and less branded, but after using the platform for such a long time, I'm perfectly happy with a button that just describes what it will do without trying to be cute (not that I dislike cute, I'd never part with our elephant illustrations). I have seen enough "Dr. Doom toots as he pleases" quotes in the first two years of Mastodon to last me a lifetime.
Probably not a lot of people know this now, but Mastodon's web app started out with "Publish". In 2016 a famous YouTuber jokingly offered to support Mastodon's Patreon forever if I changed the button to say "Toot" instead. Needless to say, this was a really early, and not very informed decision. The first glimpse of attention and financial support. As a non-native speaker I had no idea there was another meaning.
Developing Mastodon, I strive to use terminology that is familiar to as many people as possible so as to not put up unnecessary barriers in understanding. For this reason I am happy that we went away from calling posts "toots". It has always been a point of friction for people. Not that I dislike branding, quite the opposite, but in my experience receiving feedback over half a decade, it had a negative effect on the platform for little benefit.
Feels pretty weird going back from #csharp to #GDScript, though most of it is me thinking I’m writing #python instead 😂
Nonetheless, most of the scripts have been rewritten in GDScript with new unit tests à la GUT. Now to figure out where I want to take the RPG component; I'm thinking of some ideas...

If you're using the official Mastodon app, you can now view your server's Local timeline:
1.Click 🔍 "Search" at the bottom
2. Click on the "Community" tab at the top
The Local timeline shows all the public posts by people on that server. It works best on small, themed servers, and helps you find interesting posts and people.
On larger servers like mastodon.social, the Local timeline will be an unreadable firehose though.
You can look at other servers' local timelines on their websites (more info at https://mstdn.social/@feditips/108340750175597984).
