The US (and Canada) did that whole "invade a region, kill the people living there, and replace them with those considered racially pure" thing well before the Nazis. Only difference is that the US (and Canada) did a way more comprehensive job of it and also shamelessly and unapologetically calls it their "heritage" and it's the "foundation of their country".

Let me be clear: if you want any sort of institutional restriction against trans people taking HRT before 18, we can't be friends.

If you want to disarm people considered "mentally ill", including people with schizophrenia or bipolar, we can't be friends.

Why? It's not even because these are especially important issues, it's because these are things that directly oppress my friends.

So I've had a rocky relationship with dad my whole adult life. As a kid I felt a lot like Bobby Hill. A few months ago I was robbed of my most important possessions while sleeping and when I asked for help, he begrudgingly gave it, then blocked my number. I have since paid him back, and today bought him a sampler case from a local favorite brewery and my mom brought it to him. She sent me a pic of him beaming with it, and then he called me to say thanks AND I'M SO HAPPY I COULD

Benjamin: Garak you are not doing 'Hot girl shit.'
Benjamin: You are trapped in a holosuite and you need to sit down and shut it so I can get you out.

Urgent question for #queer members of the Fediverse: Do you know of any resources for giving a presentation to small kids (1st and 2nd grade, to be precise) about #LBGTQ issues? I was asked by a local international school to do just this, tomorrow! This group of #children has already been introduced to concepts of #gender and different kinds of #families. I plan to read "What Riley Wore" to them, and maybe also "I Am Jazz!" and "Stella Brings the Family." #boosts appreciated! 💖

Since I got off the streets and bought a tablet I've been blazing through DS9. On s04 now. I want two people in my life: one who looks at me like Odo looks at Kira and one who looks at me like Odo looks at Quark

Few things are more satisfying than yelling at people in cars for trying to be "nice" in traffic. If you get me killed I will haunt your family for a thousand generations

Dear restaurants,

I love it when you blast obnoxious pop music at unbearable volumes in the dining room.

I love having to yell at waiters over the music to place my order.

I love not being able to hear my friends who are sitting right next to me.

I love having your shitty music play over my earbuds even when they're at full volume.

I love feeling the beat literally in my chest and giving me the feeling of having a heart attack.

I love leaving your establishment ears ringing and frazzled.

I collect a lot of data people-watching, but unlike the corps and government, mine is all 100% anonymised

Soviet poster (1964): "Country of Industry - The power of Science was built by our working hands"

"...The technology itself still has room for improvement, but what’s needed is not so much a better #wind #turbine or #solar panel as much as broader #policy changes that encourage more widespread adoption.

For residential solar power, upward of 70 percent of the price tag is due to “soft costs” — things like permitting, inspections, installation, and financing rather than the cost of the hardware itself. Solar could still get much cheaper, with costs falling another 50 percent by 2050 according to some estimates, but it will require cutting through this red tape."
